Job Title: Speech/Language Pathologist
Report to: Building Principal
Department: SPED
Position Summary:
The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate students's personal, social, and intellectual development. To respond to students' individual needs and abilities, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the parents and administration of the school.
Qualifications/Job Requirements:
- Masters Degree
- Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate
- Current Oklahoma Speech Pathology License and hold ASHA Certification or be eligible for ASHA Clinical Fellowship
- Experience working with students in an education setting.
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self discipline and initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate students' personal, social, intellectual development.
- Follow the procedures, practices, and guidlines outlined by the district, OSDE and IDEA regulations.
- Selects, administers and interprets appropriate assessments to determine the need for speech and/or language servicesin an educational setting.
- Developes targeted goals to address students' needs with the provision of ongoing progress monitoring and service delivery as determined appropriate.
- Provides ongoing services/support to staff and teachers to ensure integration of speech and language strategies, including AAC if appropriate, into a student's classroom environment.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Treat pupils with respect and dignity
- Conferences with students' parents/guardians and other appropriate school personnel to provide support and information regarding the student as necessary.
- Participate in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process as a team member.
- Participate in the development of students' IEPs.
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
- Other duties assigned by administration.
